Greetings from Gordon
Hi. I live in Norman, Oklahoma. I work for the University of
Oklahoma School of Meteorology. I
develop my own software for meteorologists, install and support other software,
administer several Unix systems, and participate in field operations where we
collect weather data for research. You can reach me here as wuser@.
My Software:
-
tkgeomap is a set of extensions to Tcl/Tk
that access and manipulate geographic data. Go to
tkgeomap.org for more information.
-
visky is a tkgeomap based application for planning weather
instrument deployments and viewing data. Go to
tkgeomap.org/visky for more information.

alloc-1.0 is a collection of
dynamic, multi-dimensional array allocators written in C. It provides code
that creates two, three, and four dimensional arrays of floats. With
straightforward text editing, the programs could be adapted to store other
data types. For details, please see the man pages.
-
bufile is a Bourne shell script that makes a
backup copy of a local file. The copy is named
backup/filename_YYYYMMDDHHMMSS, where the suffix gives the instant
the copy was created. Local directory backup is created if necessary. It
provides a simple way of tracking a few recent versions of a file. For better
tracking, use a full featured version control system like Revision Control System.
-
penvelope is an awk script that generates
Postscript code for an envelope. Input should be a sender address, followed by
a blank line, followed by a recipient address. Output is Postscript code for an
U.S. envelope with the given addresses.
-
vifonts is a wish script that prints a
string of all characters using all the fonts returned by xlsfonts in a
scrolling text widget.
-
volume is a wish script that controls system
audio volume with a slider widget. It is for OpenBSD systems. It sends slider
selections to the mixerctl command.

Here are some notes on
creating multidimensional arrays in C.
Other Software:
-
groff is a simple document formatting
system. With groff, and without much effort, you can format a plain text
file or print out a short letter. With reasonable effort, you can produce complex
reports and publications. It is readily available, straightforward to use, has
reasonable defaults, and produces a good output in several formats. Here are some
notes and hints.
